We headed to the end of Main Street by way of the Emporium (and I bought a new keychain to replace mine that had been falling apart for months).

Once we made it to the hub, we decided to head into Fantasy Faire and bought a Chocolate Twist from Maurice’s Treats. This was a new snack to us since we hadn’t been to this stand yet, and we thought it was really tasty.

It was daytime, so we couldn’t miss out on an opportunity to visit our friends at Big Thunder Ranch. When we arrived back there, however, Clarabelle was in jail and Pocahontas was being antisocial in the donkey pen, so we didn’t actually get to pet anyone.

Instead, we once again checked out the Scare-Dy Crow Shack and I took a picture sidling up to this beauty.

Back in the Jamboree, it was another very busy day. We looked up to see this cool lanterns hanging from some of the trees.

We were hoping to meet some of the characters in their costumes, but then Billy Hill and the Hillbillies came out to start their show and the characters had to give way to them.

Tracy and I headed over to the craft area and decided to color ourselves a couple masks.

Tracy worked on this bat.

And I colored the cat.

I tried to make it look like Crooky.

I think Tracy’s turned out pretty well too.

It just felt so fun and lively back there with the live music and all the Halloween excitement. We really enjoyed spending some time in the Jamboree. Next, we went to check out what pumpkins had been added since our last trip. Unsurprisingly, they were almost all new to us.

Finally, we left the Ranch area and headed back into the thick of the crowded parks. We passed some birds of paradise, and Tracy put her mask on one of them.

It was our return time for the Jungle Cruise, so we went over to ride that and were able to get right on (this was our first full day at the park with the DAS and we were glad to see it was working out well so far).

Next, we got a return time for Peter Pan’s Flight and headed into Fantasyland as we waited for it to be ready. We headed over near “it’s a small world” and saw the monorail passing by overhead.

Suddenly, Soundsational started, and Tracy and I had a novel idea—why not actually find a spot and finally WATCH this parade. Of course, we had basically seen it all before, but it was mostly while we were walking by trying to AVOID the parade on our many trips. Now we decided to see what all the fuss was about.

We found a spot where we could sit on the curb near Small World (a major bonus).

I’ll be honest when I say that I don’t think I’ve ever noticed the Little Mermaid float before. It felt brand new to me.

We also could really appreciate the majesty of the princess float. I think it’s probably my favorite.

The Princess and the Frog float is just so lively and so much fun.

Mary and Bert weren’t riding their bikes today, but we still enjoyed seeing everyone “Step in Time.”

Moral of the story after sitting and watching the parade is that I don’t think Tracy and I are ever REALLY going to be “parade people.” Still, as far as parades go, this one is very entertaining. We were glad we finally gave it a chance.

As the parade ended, there was no line at all for Small World, so we decided to go ahead and ride. As we got out, we headed over to Peter Pan to use our DAS time, and the sight that greeted us was very disheartening. The return line was longer than we’d ever seen it, and we know how slowly it moves. I’m guessing we would have easily been waiting as long in that line as we would have in the standby queue, so we gave up. It was the first time the DAS had “failed” us (though you can’t really blame the DAS system. Peter Pan just really wasn’t built to be accessible and obviously struggles more than any other attraction in Disneyland).

The crowds were getting to us at this point, so we decided to head out. We went into Downtown Disney and realized we wanted Earl of Sandwich for dinner.

Today we opted for the Holiday Sandwich (we got it with the mayo this time and still thought it was quite delicious) and a side of Mac and Cheese.

Everything was very tasty as always.

Feeling reenergized after dinner, we decided to stick around for a while longer. First we stayed in Downtown Disney, and Tracy got this sweet kitty hat at Build a Bear.

Next, we actually headed into DCA because I really was in the mood to ride Luigi’s Flying Tires.

We got a return time and then killed time by shopping around in the Cars Land shops that we hadn’t really ever frequented before. Unfortunately, when we did get to the ride, our tire was a dud. We barely ended up moving much at all. Still, my urge was satisfied, so we decided to head home for real this time.

The journey back to the Pongo lot felt quite long, but we finally made it back to the car and left.
