Chapter 15
Dessert for Breakfast

The week felt like it had lasted a little too long, and we questioned whether we really wanted to do full weeklong trips out to CA anymore. But finally, Saturday had arrived—giving us a chance to full enjoy the parks without other obligations.

We started the day right where we’d ended the previous night: Flo’s V8 Cafe. For ages, we’d read about how great the breakfast options there were supposed to be, and now we were finally going to try the one that sounded the most appetizing for ourselves.

This is the Brioche French Toast (Baked and served with Salted Caramel Sauce and Bananas).

Bananas don’t agree with my stomach, so Tracy got both halves, but the french toast on its own was so good!

It’s way more of a dessert than it is a true breakfast, but we didn’t mind starting the day with this sweet treat.

After breakfast, we weren’t really planning on spending more time in this park, so we started making our way back toward the front. En route, I noticed a group with two plaids (which is always the indicator that there’s an actual big name celebrity). I was proud of myself for recognizing Katie Holmes before Tracy even could.

When we had hopped to Disneyland, we saw that the Disneyland Band (back in its original incarnation) was doing a show out front with Mary Poppins, Bert, Cruella, the Mad Hatter, and Chip ‘n’ Dale. What an unlikely group of friends…

We started making our way down Main Street.

We also passed by several of our favorite vehicles.

It was still early enough that the park didn’t feel too crowded.

Our destination was Big Thunder Ranch (of course). And Pongo and Jane were finally back now that it wasn’t their bath day anymore.

The new Donkeys (Dot and Daisy) were also out, but they were still in jail.

We’ll never see the Scare-dy Crow Shack all dolled up for Halloween again…

We either had a DAS time or a Fastpass for Big Thunder Mountain next, so that’s where we headed.

After the ride, Tracy started acting a little fishy. She said that she was figuring out one of my birthday presents and had to head in the general direction of the Haunted Mansion. What happened next, however, was both unexpected and unforgettable!
