Chapter 19
Picking and Choosing

On the last day of our trip, we got up and checked out of the hotel. Then we headed to Disneyland, where there were still plenty of things we wanted to do before leaving.

Upon entering the park, we found a horse with very nice tail adornments waiting to escort us up Main Street.

We could tell Halloween Time was almost over because all the snow was on the castle turrets by this point.

After we got off the streetcar, we noticed that there was a “code H” on the ground.

Since we hadn’t really taken the time to look closely at them this year, we inspected all the pumpkins around the Partners statue.

We’d gotten to Disneyland way earlier than usual and hadn’t even drank our coffee yet, so we went to Starbucks to get a drink and a breakfast sandwich.

I still just love the books at The Book Rest. So many stock cardboard copies of “classics.”

When we were done with breakfast, we went back out to the hub and saw the Dapper Dans were performing on the Horse-Drawn Trolley.

In between songs, their cast member handler pointed out my hat and chatted about Club 33 for a few minutes.

Walking into Fantasyland via the castle, I looked up and noticed this clock for the first time.

Since there was a lot of Halloween we wanted to soak in before the holiday was deemed over, we went back to Big Thunder Ranch again.

Rather than spending too much time back in the Jamboree area, we explored the Scaredy-crow Shack and admired all the pumpkins around it.

At the time, we couldn’t have known that it would be the last time it would ever be done up for Halloween before being torn down.

We also got someone to take our picture in front of the Halloween mural.

Haunted Mansion Holiday was closed this morning, but that meant we could get lots of good pictures in front of the attraction.

This one would come in very handy as part of the Disneyland Cats’ 2014 holiday card.

We hoped the attraction would reopen in time for us to ride one more time before we left, but we weren’t holding our breath.

Instead, we headed over to Pirates of the Caribbean for a ride.

We got stopped for a really long time in front of the pigs and the hairy-leg pirate, so I snapped a bunch of pictures.

It was easily the longest we’d ever been stopped on an attraction, and I was wondering if we might be evacuated. Alas, it did eventually start up again. Once we were back in motion, we didn’t exactly move quickly for the rest of the ride. So I was still able to take a few more pictures.

Making our way back toward the park exit, we saw another Halloween horse up front.

We were being pretty choosy about how to spend our time on our last day, and we only wanted to hop to DCA for lunch—not to ride anything. We went right back to Cozy Cone and got a Chicken Verde Cone to split.

After lunch, we hopped right back over to Disneyland and went to ride Space Mountain: Ghost Galaxy.

While we were back by the bathrooms, we “stealthily” took a photo of Rebel Wilson being backdoor into the attraction by a plaid.
